POLITICAL STUDIES STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION (POSSA)

POSSA as the name of our association, was established on the 24th of September 2008. The main objective for the formation was to inculcate a high sense of political will, confidence, rights and responsibility into members of POSSA with the ultimate aim of integrating them and ensuring their participation in all activities and issues of national concern with the aim of altering the status quo.

NAME AND MOTTO

  1. The name of the association shall be known and called “Political Studies Students Association” herein referred to as “POSSA”.
  2. (I) The association shall bear the motto- “POSSA- PRIMUS INTER PARIS- FIRST AMONG EQUALS”.

(ii)SLOGAN: The mouthpiece of the society

AIMS/OBJECTIVES

The aims and objectives of POSSA:

(i) To pursue the interest and welfare of all members of POSSA.

(ii) To inculcate a high sense of political will, confidence, rights and responsibility into members of POSSA  with the ultimate aim of integrating them and ensuring their participation in all activities relating to leadership and development of POSSA as well as the students representatives council.

(iii) To educate the general public on the importance of political studies.

(iv) To disseminate the knowledge of political studies through publications, journals, lectures, symposia, seminars and other means considered appropriate by the POSSA.

(v) To mobilize and consolidate our efforts as one body with one accord to marshal the good image of political studies.

(VI)  To enhance and advance political consciousness among POSSA members.

 

(VII)   To empower the political studies student to be innovative in challenging the status-quo.

MEMBERSHIP

(i)    All undergraduate students pursuing political studies as their major shall constitute SUBSTANTIVE MEMBERS of POSSA.

 

(II) All substantive members shall pay dues for the smooth running of the Association.

 

(III) Membership shall also be opened to ASSOCIATE MEMBERS - an associate member is one who decides to major in any other course rather than political studies and is and has successfully pursued a two years course in political studies
